Preparing an example drawing for Ornamental Aluminum Fence

Study the drawing below for different examples of information required to prepare an adequate drawing. • We do not provide columns or materials for columns
• A corner post has holes routed on two sides adjacent to each other for the section rails to slide into
• An end post has holes routed on one side only for section rails to slide into
• A gate end post is a heavy wall post with holes routed on one side only for section rails to slide into
• A gate blank post is a heavy wall post with no routed holes for rails
• Line posts are not shown because it is assumed they would be spaced 72-1/2" on post centers
• A line post has holes routed on opposite sides for rails to slide into
• An angled gate post is the same as a line post. You must widen the routed holes to make the angled section turn. This can be done with a file or hole saw.
• A wall mount bracket is a fitting used to mount a rail to a wall or column without using a post. You can use an end post instead. You can also mount a cut-off end post to the wall or column by bolting it to the side and sliding the rails into the pre-routed holes. Wall mount brackets are cheaper.
• An adjustable wall mount bracket is used the same as a wall mount bracket except it allows for angles other than 90 degrees.
• Sections can be cut to fit spaces less than 72-1/2" by cutting the horizontal rails with a hack saw or power saw.
• Left-over sections from cut-offs can be used elsewhere on your job where they will fit.
• Gates can hinge from walls or columns. Specify that when ordering so the proper hinges will be included.
• Gates can latch to columns or walls.
• Gates will open in one direction only, They can be hung to swing either way because the hardware is not pre-mounted.
• Double swing gates include a center drop rod.
• BEWARE of styles that have rings or round hoops at the top. You can cut these sections to fit but you will be restricted as to where the cut can be. You wouldn't want to cut a ring or hoop in half. These styles are hard to fit between columns.
• Sections are held into posts by stainless steel screws.
• BEWARE of grades steeper than 12" over 6' on most styles and 3" on some. Styles #1, #2, #5 and #6 can handle steep grades of 12" over 6'. Consult with Hoover Fence estimator to discuss special grade considerations, if you have steep grades anywhere on your fence project.
• It is possible to stair-step sections. Order end posts instead of line posts so you can rout the second set of holes at any custom height.
• You can use wall mount brackets to stair-step sections. It is easier than routing holes in the post.
